MORE than 200 of the best young sailors competed on Saturday, Sunday and Monday on Botany Bay.
As was the case in 2014, the Georges River 16’ Skiff Sailing Club at Sandringham, again hosted the 2015 annual event over the October long weekend.
Racing was held on four courses on Botany Bay in the 29er; Optimist (open); Optimist (intermediate fleet); Optimist (green fleet); 420; Flying 11; Hobie 16; Techno 293; Laser 4.7; Sabot One-Up; Laser Radial and Open BIC classes.
“Yachting NSW supports kids learning and enjoying the sport in a safe environment, whether they start in a grand prix class or end up in one through a pathway or invited class,” event manager Andrew Hawkins said.
He said sailors as young as six to 18 sailed in the warm weather in light winds over the three days.
Hawkins also paid special tribute today to Marine Rescue NSW for their assistance as volunteers and providing the radio relay truck.
