THERE aren't too many big titles or major competitions Katrina Wright, 34, of Caringbah, has not won in her lawn bowls career.
But the Taren Point Bowling Club women's player has sights on one trophy that has eluded her — the World Champion of Champions Singles Championships next month at Helensvale on the Gold Coast.
"I have never won it — I played in the world singles titles in 2010," she said.
Twice in her career she has been close to making the Australian team for the Commonwealth Games.
"I missed out in 2006 and 2014 for the Commonwealth Games."
The titles will feature leading players from the lawn bowls globe from November 16 to November 22.
Wright has played with five clubs and excelled in the women's game, this is her second stint at Taren Point.
The other clubs were St Johns Park, Cabramatta and Gymea and Sutherland.
"I started here at Taren Point in 2000, and I came back here in 2014," she said.
"I will retire here at Taren Point, the club feels like my home."
The McGrath Real Estate, Sylvania, agent doesn't have far to go to play or train at Taren Point.
"The office is just across the road.
"I come over to the club at lunchtime and practise and then head back to work."
Wright said her career and work balance is important for her.
"Warren McCarthy, the McGrath Sutherland Shire sales manager been very good to me giving me time off work for bowls," she said.
"I am headed to the Gold Coast two weeks before to train for the world singles titles to prepare."
Wright qualified for the world titles last year when she won the 2014 Australian Champion of Champions singles crown.
She is the only Australian women's player to win an Australian Champion of Champions title.
"I have never won the world titles; I competed once before in 2010."
The former Australian No. 1 ranked singles player said there is also another goal on her agenda before she heads to the Gold Coast.
"I am playing the state fours event for Taren Point and my mum, Cheryl is in the team."
Wright said peak performance coach Susie King has been very important in developing her self-confidence.
"Susie has helped with my mental strength."
