CONSTRUCTION has restarted on the new Rockdale City Aquatic Centre after asbestos was found at the site.
Last month building on the site was halted after bonded asbestos was found.
At the time a Rockdale Council spokesman said they were working with builder FDC Construction and Fitout on a remediation plan to ensure that work on the pool continues safely.
In a letter to nearby residents FDC said the site was now clean.
"The required remediation works to the affected areas have now been completed," the letter stated.
"As a result the site has been reclassified with a clean bill of health by the specialist land consultant and FDC will continue to take appropriate dust control measures.
"It has been deemed that the surrounding areas were not affected by the remediation process."
