KOGARAH Council is running a free seminar at the end of October to promote Mental Health Month.
This year's theme is Value Your Mind and the seminar will focus on maintaining mental well-being.
Author and psychologist Kerrie Eyers from the Black Dog Institute will speak about clinical depression.
She is the co-author of Managing Depression Growing Older: A Guide for Professionals and Carers
The book showed that people growing older today had more choices than any previous generation to fight depression.
Ms Eyers will be joined by a speaker from 3Bridges Community.
The seminar will have its lighter moments, with entertainment provided by the Laughter Club and a local choir.
The seminar will be held on Friday, October 30, at St George Community Centre, St George Bank Building, Premier Street, Kogarah.
It will run from 9.30am to 12.30pm.
