Kathryn Bloomer will give an insight into her many years’ experience as an interior designer and decorator when she welcomes people aboard her Yellow House Interiors shopping tour on Saturday October 31.
Ms Bloomer will take customers on a guided bus tour of some of her favourite Inner West stores when the bus departs from Taren Point Hotel at 9am before heading to Erskineville for a visit to Pure and General, which stocks furniture, homewares, stationery and toys, then Porter’s Paints.
The tour then continues to French Dressing at Waterloo to view the range of Hamptons and French provincial style furnishings followed by stops in Balmain.
After a lunch break at the Exchange Hotel, the tour will continue to Penny Farthing Design House and Stem Homewares, also in Balmain, before returning to Taren Point Hotel at 4pm.
The former fine arts student named her company after the Yellow House in Potts Point, which in the late 1960s housed a collective of artists including St George and Sutherland Shire’s George Gittoes.
The majority of her private clients have come from the shirebut she said she was also in demand in St George and the Eastern Suburbs.
As a property stylist she has worked extensively with John Brookes of Brookes Partners Real Estate at Hurstville and Cronulla, and she writes a blog for Beach and Bay Realty Cronulla.

Getting ready to sell your home?
Kathryn Bloomer has some tips to get it ship shape for the all-important open house.
1. Get it sparkling clean. Pay special attention to skirting boards, light fittings, windows and walls.
2. Colour correction. Stick to a neutral and subdued colour palette as you want to appeal to a great variety of people. A fresh coat of paint is a great idea.
3. Store all personal objects and family photos. Keep styling fresh, simple and not over complicated.
4. Replace carpets with something new in a contemporary hue that matches finishes.
5. Hire furniture and accessories. Do it yourself or ask a professional to find pieces that complement the property.
6. Quick fixes. Look at your property with fresh eyes and make a list of all those small jobs you’ve been putting off and get them done.
