Not so happy shopper
Hi Westfield Hurstville, as a once happy Westfield shopper it saddens me to say you made a BIG mess with the old council car park.
You have created a bottleneck in the Park Road car park entrance by closing one of the two entrances.
To make matters worse with the only entry left in Park Road, you created the following:
1. Slowed traffic entering the car park to a crawl by introducing a tight left turn, which ALL drivers take slowly to avoid scraping their wheels.
2. You then funnel ALL traffic into a three-way junction (entrance from Park Road, entrance from tunnel and down ramp from P2) causing congestion at the slightest hint of traffic.
3. When someone near the entrance tries to park, the congestion quickly causes traffic to bank up outside onto Park Road.
4. With the bus drop-off near the entrance, together with banked up cars trying to enter the P1 parking, it only leaves one lane free to traffic. When Hurstville Council reverts Park Road back to two-way traffic, you will have NO traffic flow.
5. Restricted traffic in the car park getting to the tunnel that goes under Park Road. By doing this, you are forcing people who exit into Park Road and want to turn right into Cross Street to wait extended periods until traffic clears so they can cross three lanes to the right-most kerb lane.
In Hurstville Council minutes April 9, 2015, it shows the approved car park plans which does not have the left-turn entrance from Park Road.
Why the change?
Can you please have someone investigate this to avoid long-term congestion which will invariably drive loyal customers away.
