Reading the Leader I see local federal MP Nick Vavaris will have even greater trouble keeping his seat (currently the most marginal in NSW) with the new electoral boundary changes ("Electorate shake-up", October 20).
I think this explains why Mr Vavaris has maintained both positions as federal MP and Kogarah councillor.
Despite so-called Councillor Vavaris having missed over 75 per cent of Kogarah Council's monthly meetings and not even attending the council-organised public forum he has retained a councillor's position, yet has not represented his constituents in Middle Ward by his continual absences.
Now we can see that Mr Vavaris, in the likely event he loses his federal position, can just slot back in with his mates on council as if nothing has happened.
Mr Vavaris, take a stand and make a decision. Either resign as federal MP or councillor immediately and do the other role to the best of your ability, as presently you are not performing well enough in either role.
