To the person/people who put a severed forearm and hand in the river; my daughter, 4, scooped it up in a fishing net on Tuesday November 3 while her brother, 7, his friend, baby sister and I watched on.
I soon realised it wasn’t a glove as we first thought. It looked incredibly realistic and was very heavy so I quickly told the kids to stay away from it while I called the police.
They arrived quickly and after close inspection told us it was a very life-like fake and must be a Halloween prank.
We certainly weren’t laughing and the kids and I are still in shock from what we saw.
My daughter now won’t go near the river and panics if she is left alone in a room or is sitting closest to the window or door overlooking the river.
I trust that you probably didn’t intend to cause harm to anyone (especially young children) and thought it would be a funny Halloween joke but let me tell you that it has caused our family a lot of stress and will take some time for us to get over it.
Please think twice before pulling a stunt like this again and think about the effect it will have on the people who find it.
Not so happy Halloween, Woronora
