After seeing the Cafe Y sign near Menai shopping centre car park, I went in for a cup of coffee. That one cup of coffee left me with a strong impression.
I realised the coffee/teahouse was there not only to serve customers but also to help the local youth gain invaluable practical experience in a strongly growing service industry.
Hard working volunteers assist and mentor the youth workers who attend TAFE studying hospitality. After completing the course combined with the hands-on practical experience at Cafe Y they move on to further their careers.
Cafe Y is located close to Menai Library — just follow the sign. The coffee is good and you're guaranteed service with a smile.
It is possible the coffee may be a life- changing event as volunteers are always welcome there. Please try it.
