A word of caution to anyone who has sold or is thinking of selling their property to a developer: be 100 per cent certain that the developer will honour their commitment date for settlement before you go ahead and buy another property.
I sold my property to a developer in March with settlement for September. I went ahead and bought another property confident that mine would be well and truly settled.
Now settlement for my property is four weeks overdue and settlement on the house I bought two weeks overdue. This has such a domino effect.
At one stage removalist vans were fully loaded to move on the promised day only to be informed at the last minute sorry next week, then again next week, and once again next week.
Surely, seven months is enough time for a developer to have all their finances in order; if not, someone should be made accountable.
I wonder if they give a thought to the people they have caused so much stress to. I think not.
