Teigan Matthews, 10, of Caringbah, won the 2015 Junior Rider of the Year with her pony Qup Lady Jayne at the 29th annual Sutherland Shire Horse Owners Association on Sunday at Como.
The annual event brought together 34 competitors at Carina Bay Reserve.
Teigan was also equal-champion 2015 Pony of the Year category winner with Helensburgh’s Tyara Smith, 14, who rode Leanda Hello There.
Sutherland Shire Horse Owners Association president Joy Charlton said there were 34 competitors who contested 112 individual tests on Sunday.
In the Junior Rider of the Year category, Tyara Smith won. Runner-up was Teigan Matthews.
‘‘This is Teigan’s first year of competition,’’ Joy Charlton said.
Joy Charlton said both girls did extremely well in the competition.
She said the standard of competition and the condition and presentation of the horses was acredit to all riders.
Thirty talented equestrian riders and their horses competed in the 29th annual Sutherland Shire Owners Association Anniversary Championships at Como on Sunday.
Carina Bay Reserve was the venue for the annual showpiece event featuring top junior and pony riders including competitors from Sutherland Shire and Helensburgh.
