BOARDRIDER clubs are the breeding ground for tomorrow's champions and are recognised as the grassroots level of surfing development.
The Cronulla Girls Boardriders club has been operating since 1998 and has about 50 members.
Guzman y Gomez — Mexican Taqueria Cronulla recently hosted a fundraiser to support the club.
Club president Kathryn Ward said the $1431 raised would be used to purchase a new gazebo for competition days and for pointscore prizes at the end of the year.
"Operating a female-only club like this encourages woman of all ages to compete against each other in a supportive and fun environment," Ms Ward said.
"Female surfing numbers in Cronulla are improving every year and the success of organisations like Cronulla Girls Boardriders will help unearth the next generation of female stars."
