Hughes at camp
CRICKET: Former Australian Test legend Merv Hughes will be running an eye over the young cricketing talents of Sutherland Shire when he heads up the coaching panel for the Shaun Brown Cricket Coaching Super Camp.
‘‘Merv is a leading coach and relates well to young cricketers. It’s fantastic to have him on board for this year’s camp,’’ Brown said.
Hughes is a former Australian selector and big-hearted fast bowler who made a major contribution to Australian cricket, becoming a crowd favourite in his 53 Tests.
The camp will be held at Endeavour Sports High School on December 21 and 22, from 9am to 3pm.

Local derby
RUGBY LEAGUE: Cronulla and St George Illawarra fans won’t have to wait long for one of the most eagerly anticipated games of the season — the local derby between the Sharks and the Dragons.
The Sharks announced yesterday that Cronulla will host their local rivals in round two on a Sunday afternoon at Remondis Stadium, Woolooware.
The match is scheduled to start 4pm.
The Sharks and Dragons shared the spoils with one win each last season.
St George Illawarra scored a comprehensive win at Jubilee Oval, Carlton, only for the Sharks to square the ledger in the return game later in the season.
The complete 2016 NRL draw is to be announced this week.
