RESIDENTS and business owners rejoiced when the state government and Rockdale Council announced traffic lights would be installed at the confusing T-intersection at the top of Bardwell Park shopping strip.
But 14 months later, many motorists are still unsure who has right of way at the corner of Slade Road and Hartill-Law Avenue.
The signals were expected to be operating by June this year.
When that deadline passed, the council said it hoped to have them operating by the end of October. The council advised last week that the lights would be "installed and fully operational within four months".
"The approvals sought from RMS [Roads and Maritime Services] regarding this installation is part and parcel of this process," a council spokesman said.
Resident Cameron Hons said in a letter to the Leader locals were were "fed up".
"Road rage and driver stupidity is still witnessed on an occasional basis and drivers simply don't know where to go and they don't pay attention to the road rules or pedestrians," he said. "Today I waited for ages to cross the road because the drivers should have given way to me but they didn't, even though they could clearly see there were pedestrians waiting."
What do you think of the delay?
