Hughes honour
CRICKET: NSW and Queensland players will wear black armbands to commemorate the one-year anniversary of Phillip Hughes’ death during their Sheffield Shield match that starts at the SCG tomorrow.
Cricket NSW chief executive Andrew Jones said the commemoration was being kept low-key at the request of both the Hughes family and the players because the pain from last summer was still raw.
Hughes, 25, died in St Vincent’s Hospital after being struck by the ball while batting for South Australia at the SCG.
Members of the Australian and New Zealand teams will also sport armbands in Adelaide during the first ever day-night Test match, starting tomorrow.

The Dragons will play South Sydney at the SCG on March 20 to mark the 50th anniversary of St George’s 11 premiership triumphs between 1956 and 1966. The full NRL draw is expected to be released today.
