Sutherland Shire came through Thursday's searing heat and strong winds without a serious bushfire incident thanks to rain that fell a month ago.
Rural Fire Service district manager Andrew Pinfold said there were "no issues" in the shire on Thursday even though a number of fires occurred around the state.
"The combination of high temperatures, low humidity and high winds area recipe for very high danger," Superintendent Pinfold said.
"Fortunately, the significant rain we had in late October and early November was of great assistance to fuel moisture content. Effectively, it's wet."
Superintendent Pinfold said, with summer yet to start, there was "a long way to go".
"We appeal again to residents to have their bushfire survival plans in place and prepare their properties," he said.
"If you see smoke, don't assume someone has reported it, but immediately call triple zero."
Superintendent Pinfold provided further details on extra resources that are flowing into shire bushfire brigades.
They include new Category 1, four wheel drive trucks that have been delivered to Menai, Illawong, Kurnell, Grays Point and Bundeena Rural Fire Service brigades.
