Sinead O'Connor is reportedly "safe and sound" after posting a distraught note on Facebook on Sunday night (Monday morning AEDT) and allegedly taking a drug overdose.
Cork-based news service breakingnews.ie reported she had been found: "Gardaí [the Irish police] at Pearse St station have confirmed that singer Sinead O'Connor has been located 'safe and sound' and is receiving medical assistance."
O'Connor's official Facebook account carried a troubling message on Sunday night, claiming the singer had "taken an overdose" in a hotel where she had checked in under a false name after being denied access to "my babies" by relatives after undergoing surgery.
"There is only so much any woman can be expected to bear. What was done to me this week was appalling cruelty," the post said.
"The last two nights finished me off. I have taken an overdose. There is no other way to get respect. I am not at home, I'm at a hotel, somewhere in ireland, under another name."
O'Connor recently revealed she was due to undergo a hysterectomy and planned to quit the music business.
She has also engaged in several high-profile online fights with fellow celebrities, including Kim Kardashian and Miley Cyrus.
