A Service of Remembrance for families and friends whose children have died, or are missing, will be held at St Philip’s Anglican Church, 402 Port Hacking Road South, Caringbah on Tuesday, December 1 at 7.30pm.
Anglicare Chaplain Jan Corbett-Jones said the service is open to all denominations
‘‘Christmas is often a really difficult time for families and friends who have lost a child of any age,’’ she said.
‘‘Memories of the past come flooding back as families get together, heightening the grief.
‘‘The death of a child, no matter how old that child was is not something people get over.
‘‘Perhaps they are helped as the children are honoured and people are prepared to listen and care.’’
During the service, those present will be invited to place a flower at the front of the church and light a candle of remembrance in memory of the child who has died or is missing.
Flowers and candles will be available on the night or people can bring their own candle.
The service will include a brief message from the Reverend Hugh Isaacs, Senior Minister at St Philip’s Anglican Church.
Supper will be provided after the service.
