St George Illawarra have signed Samoan international centre Tim Lafai for the 2016 and 2017 seasons.
The former Canterbury centre was released from the final two years of his contract with the Bulldogs last Friday to make way for William Hopoate, who joined Canterbury from Parramatta.
Lafai and his management met with Dragons officials in recent days and the deal was struck on Friday.
The 24-year-old is a specialist left centre and will bolster Dragons coach Paul McGregor’s attacking arsenal for the next two years.Lafai was pursued by several clubs including the Gold Coast Titans.
Lafai has played 74 games for the Bulldogs and five Tests for Samoa.
