After witnessing a fatal crash involving a motorcycle I would like to appeal to the authorities to take some action to stop this carnage in the Royal National Park.
The speed limit needs to be lowered and more police presence on the weekends. Riders need to slow down — it's not a race track.
The road through the park is dangerous; bad curves, reverse cambers, wet patches, tree-lined verges.
Older riders who have little experience go and buy a Harley or other heavy bikes that are a danger to themselves and others. Novice riders on fast sports bikes with pillion passengers are an accident waiting to happen.
It seems there is not a weekend without a serious motorcycle crash south of Sutherland. I am a rider myself so I know what I am talking about.
