DOUG Wintin of Sylvania has received the OAM for services to rugby league.
Mr Wintin, 73, has devoted more than 50 years to the sporting community as a referee at junior and grade level and as mentor to referees in the Cronulla Sutherland District Junior Rugby League. In his on-field days Mr Wintin was a respected referee.
The retired national property manager with TNT grew up in Cronulla, and has been committed to refereeing.
Mr Wintin has also been a video referee and he is a life member of the Australian Rugby League Referees Association and life member of the Cronulla Sutherland District Junior Rugby League.
Mr Wintin said he started refereeing in 1964 and officiated at grade level with the NSW Rugby League competitions from 1970 until 1983.
His service includes important and senior roles with the Cronulla Sutherland District Rugby Football League Referees Association. He was secretary between 1966 and 1975, a coaching panel member, teaching and educating referees and has been a life member of the association since 1975.
