Hospital rebuild
Cherie Burton, the former Labor MP for the seat of Kogarah, deserves to be acknowledged and thanked for being the first to raise in Parliament in Feb 2013 the urgent need for the hospital to be rebuilt. In August 2013 she called on all members of Parliament, including those local members of Parliament who to date have been silent on the issue, to finally join the Medical Council's "Code Red" campaign" which had been launched in August 2013. We are nearly there re the second stage of the rebuild. Now on with the third stage so our community has a hospital fit for its purpose.

Does this rebuild and the"new 120 beds" increase capacity or are they simply replacing old with new? Given the priority precincts (3!!) in the area and influx of mass population into the area as a result, are we actually increasing the capacity of our hospital in step with the population growth or just putting bandaids on the problem at great expense?

Albanese says no to Barton
A real shame for the ALP. Albanese would have been a great MP for Barton - it is a case of fait accompli that the ALP would win Barton if Albanese was the candidate.

Parking signs
Not only are the parking signs in the suburb unclear, but motorists feel the need for speed regularly. Francis Ave is used as a speedway most afternoons and evenings. There is parking available on both sides of the street, including the narrow area from Bay St to Henson St, but that does not seem to stop the speed demons. Once they get to Henson St, the accelerator is punched down and it becomes a drag strip up to Bestic St. Wonder if Council is willing to put speed bumps along to get people to slow down, especially with a new school arriving later this year?
