Complaints by residents dating back many years have finally been answered, with a noise wall to be built on a section of Captain Cook Drive, Caringbah.
The state government had allocated $2.1 million under the noise abatement program to build the wall from Carabella Road to the end of Murrami Avenue.
Traffic noise, particularly from big trucks heading to and from landfill and industrial sites on the Kurnell peninsula, impacts heavily on homes, which are very close to the road.
Cronulla MP and Environment Minister, Mark Speakman, said feedback on the noise wall plans was being sought by Roads and Maritime Services.
Mr Speakman said the proposed structure would be located up to 2.5 metres from existing back fences, allowing access behind the wall for inspections, maintenance and equipment.
