For the first time in its history, the Cronulla-Sutherland District Junior Rugby League has gained a major naming rights sponsor.
The Feros Group, which owns businesses including Ugly Pizza at Caringbah, Arncliffe’s Rocksia Hotel and the Taren Point Hotel, will support the junior rugby league on an initial one-year deal.
The sponsorship is the biggest financial commitment to the junior rugby league in its 54-year history.
Cronulla-Sutherland District Junior Rugby League general manager Nathan Waugh said it was a positive move for the area.
“It is a great fit for us in terms of the financial side,” he said.
“The money side of things was agreed to immediately.
“It opens up the door for clubs to utilise local businesses in that they have access to family-friendly venues to go to for their end of season dinners and get togethers.”
The sponsorship was announced to clubs at the annual club presidents and secretaries forum at Sharkies Leagues Club last week.
Waugh said the new agreement had been received positively by the association’s 14 clubs.
Junior competitions will be known as the Feros Group Junior Rugby League competition.
The new junior season starts on April 2, with the season launch to be held on April 1.
