A Sutherland man, 50, has been charged after the Stapleton Avenue Community Centre in Sutherland was placed into lock down on Tuesday, February 9.
Sutherland police were called to the centre at 11.20am after reports the man was damaging property.
Police said the man had up to four knives.
During the confrontation police drew their guns and tasers.
He was arrested without incident and taken to Sutherland police station.
The building was locked down before staff members were evacuated.
The man was later charged with malicious damage and stalk/intimidate with intent for physical harm.
He was refused bail to appear in Sutherland Local Court on Thursday, February 11.
The community centre is owned by Sutherland Shire Council.
