The Commonwealth Bank of Australia is closing its branch at Brighton-Le-Sands.
The branch on Bay Street ceases operation on April 8, 2016.
The company decided to shut the doors following a recent review of branch footprint.
A spokeswoman for the bank said fewer customers had used the branch, and said there was a steady decline in transactions because of increased online and mobile banking.
“In making this decision, we have considered a range of factors to ensure it is in line with a balance of community expectations, customer preferences and business priorities,” she said.
“These changes do not affect customer accounts or their BSB, and all staff will be relocated to nearby branches.”
She said an automated teller machine (ATM) would be available “close to the current site”.
A new branch will open on April 11 at Rockdale Plaza – making it the second Commonwealth Bank branch in the suburb.
It will include a state-of-the-art branch design, and will incorporate the latest in banking technology.
This includes automated coin counting, a change machine, access to instant cash, coin and cheque deposits when the shopping centre is open.
The branch replaces Homeart, which vacated Rockdale Plaza six months ago.
There have been several casual tenants during that time.
Plaza marketing manager Linda Screnci said the branch met customer demand.
"Our customers have called on this additional service," she said.
"It's a welcome addition because it's a strong brand and adds to the other strong brands we have."
The spokeswoman for the bank said customers would be informed of the changes in the coming week.
“In addition, customers can access accounts 24 hours a day through NetBank or the CommBank app on their device,” she said.
“Our customer service line is also available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.”
