No one feels, or looks, great after a long-haul flight but Etihad is aiming to change that with a new manscaping facility at the airline's premium lounge in Abu Dhabi. The new barbershop offers haircuts, wet shaves, beard trimming and shoe shining for business and first-class passengers.
First-class passengers can enjoy the services for free, while business class passengers pay a charge starting from $US10 for a beard trim and tidy. The services on offer are designed to take less than 25 minutes, ensuring you're not going to have to run off to catch a flight with your hair half done.
It's not just male passengers who can take advantage of a layover at Abu Dhabi International Airport for a tidy up: there is also a women's salon at the lounge which offers services such as blow drys, eyebrow shaping and manicures.
Etihad reopened its terminal 1 lounge at the airport in August last year after a major refurbishment. The space of more than 1000 square metres also has a Six Senses Spa with a range of treatments available by appointment, but lounge guests are able to enjoy a 15-minute treatment at no charge.
Abu Dhabi International is rapidly growing as a major region hub – 23.3 million passengers passed through the airport in 2015. An enormous new terminal, the Midfield Terminal Complex, is under construction and due to open next year. It will have the capacity to handle 30 million passengers a year. See etihad.com.
