Kogarah Council has unveiled a new seawall at Carss bush park.
The 230 metre seawall is part of the foreshore improvement program which aims to improve the natural ecology of the area.
As part of the project part of the existing seawall was removed and a new one put in which emulates the existing habitat.
It will include rockpools, longer foreshore slopes and crevices and the endangered saltmarsh ecological community.
The new construction also includes a footpath behind the seawall, connecting the playing fields and foreshore to the rest of Carss Bush Park.
Kogarah Mayor Stephen Agius welcomed the the project.
‘’This project has yielded benefits to the intertidal environment as well as increasing the aesthetic value of Carss Bush Park,’’ he said.
‘’Council is excited that we have been able to vastly improve this foreshore area through yet another successful river foreshore enhancement project.’
