Hollywood film star and jazz singer Molly Ringwald is coming to Hurstville
The star of 1980s cult classics The Breakfast Club, Pretty in Pink and Sixteen Candles will present An Evening with Molly Ringwald at the Marana Auditorium Hurstville Entertainment Centre on Wednesday, June 8.
As well as acting, Ringwald has built a diverse career as a novelist, columnist with the London Guardian and as a jazz singer.
Singing jazz is a return to the family business.
Her father is jazz pianist Bob Ringwald and Molly starting singing when she was five years of age.
She released her album, Except Sometimes in 2013 on which she bases her show, performing classics from the Great American Songbook.
Her show is described as part nostalgic trip, part homage to classic cabaret.
She is accompanied by her jazz trio and features interpretations of I’ll Take Romance and The Very Thought of You, as well as a throwback to her eighties fame with Don’t You Forget About Me, the theme of The Breakfast Club.
This will be the only chance that local audiences will have chance to hear her as she is only doing one Sydney performance.
The show starts 8pm with tickets at $39 per person and premium seating at front row tables. Complimentary beverage included $55 per person.
Booking enquiries are on 02 9330 6222.
To celebrate her appearance, Hurstville Entertainment Centre is screening a free double feature screening of the Molly Ringwald 1980s classics Sixteen Candles and The Breakfast Club at 7pm, Wednesday, June 1 at the Civic Theatre.
