The successful Youth Frontiers project that pairs a young person with an adult mentor launched its 2016 program this month.
Established by non-profit organisation Southern Sydney Business Education Network (SSBEN), Youth Frontiers is supported by the NSW government.
It links a year 8 or 9 student with an older trained mentor who helps them build life skills and confidence while working collaboratively on a community project.
The network is implementing the program across 11 electorates in Sydney.
Today, May 16, it recognised its volunteer mentors in conjunction with this month’s National Volunteers Week (May 9-15).
This year’s theme of the annual event was ‘give happy, live happy.’
The launch was a chance to exchange ideas and motivate new mentors for the year ahead.
Former youth mentors were also there to share their experiences with this year’s group.
