Kogarah’s unique history will be put under the spotlight next week at a talk by historian and author Beverley Earnshaw.
Called Kogarah Revealed - the Fascinating History of Kogarah, the talk will focus on the strong history of migrants coming into the area and how they have added to the vibrancy of community life.
Mrs Earnshaw is Kogarah Historical Society president and the 2016 Kogarah Citizen of the year.
She has researched and published a number of important reference books about the history of Kogarah and the greater St George area including The Shipbuilders of Botany Bay, and The Land Between Two Rivers: The St George District in Federation Times.
The talk will be held at the Kogarah Community Hub, 49 English Street, Kogarah, on Thursday, May 5 at 11am.
Those attending are encouraged to bring in their photos or memories of their own personal history of Kogarah and St George. The event is free and a light morning tea will be provided. To book your space please call 9587 6622 or email info@kogarahcommunity.org.au
