Traffic will be disrupted for a fortnight while wire mesh is installed to prevent rocks falling from steep slopes onto the M1 Princes Motorway (F6) between Waterfall and Helensburgh.
Heathcote MP Lee Evans said work on the $2.5 million project would take place from Monday May 9 to Friday July 22.
Mr Evans said changed traffic conditions were necessary for the safety of workers and motorists.
“Single lane closures will in place between 9am and 3pm on weekdays,” he said.
“Full closures will be in place between 7pm and 4.30am on weeknights and 7pm and 9am on weekends, weather permitting.
“During the full night closures, motorists will be detoured via the Old Princes Highway, and should allow up to 10 minutes of additional travel time.
“On weekends, all lanes will be open during the day before the road is closed for night work.
“Motorists should follow the direction of traffic control and keep to the reduced speed limits for the safety of workers and motorists.
“The community is thanked for its patience while this important safety improvement work is carried out.”
