St George local area command this week welcomed some new faces with seven new probationary constables starting their new careers.
They were among 109 graduates who joined the ranks on Friday, April 29.
The recruits come from diverse backgrounds with several born overseas in countries including South Korea, Wales, Belgium, Brazil, Lebanon and India.
The youngest recruit is 20 while the oldest is aged 51.
The new job is a dream come true for Owen Pacewicz, 24.
After years studying he will join the Kogarah police station.
‘’I’ve always wanted to do something that is challenging and interesting,’’ he said.
‘’Every day is different and it’s a chance to give back.’’
He is just days into his new job but is already loving it.
‘’It has been really, really interesting,’’ he said.
‘’It has been great to apply what we’ve learnt into real life situations.’’
The St George recruits join two others who will be based out of Miranda police station.
Probationary constable Jason Dodd comes to NSW Police after 27 years in the Royal Australian Navy while probationary constable Paul Cooper joins NSW Police following a career in retail and warehouse operations.
