Hannans Road Public School at Riverwood joined the Food Revolution Day this month, an annual campaign designed to celebrate healthy eating.
Food Revolution Day, held in May each year, is a global venture aimed at provoking debate to change the way children access, consume and understand food.
Pupils swapped textbooks for Jamie Oliver recipe books, creating tasty dishes under the watchful eye of Jamie Oliver Food Revolution ambassador, Vimla Hayman.
She inspired children to learn about nutritious food, composting and cooking with fresh garden produce.
Ms Hayman has been involved with Hurstville Community Garden and also created the garden at Riverwood Public School.
“We’re in the middle of a global health crisis,” she said.
“An astounding 41 million children under five are overweight.
“We’re failing our children and future generations by not empowering them with the right food and skills they need to grow healthily and happily.”
