Re the article ‘‘10 cents litter solution’’ (Leader, May 11). Mark Spearman might be on to something.
We recently took a walk along beaches west of boat ramp at Kurnell with my kids two weeks back and collected an astounding 24 empty plastic drink bottles — mostly water bottles, Powerade or Coke bottles. What a disgrace!
We live in such a beautiful part of Sydney, we should all take much better care of it.
We came across a milk crate too, so decided to pick up the bottles as we walked back. Here’s hoping when we return there is not another 24 waiting for us.

This is good as far as it goes, but it’s only going to help re-cycle litter, it will do little to stop in the first instance. People are lazy, thoughtless and many don’t care for the environment. Without hitting their hip nerves by increasing the cost of the containers, they will still litter.

Eagle rays have landed
Regarding the article and photo of the rays featured on page 5 of the Leader (May 18).
The rays spotted by Glenn Warren of Gannons Bay are Southern Eagle Rays. They are normally solitary.
