A young woman fought off two men who attacked her in Gardiners Park, Banksia, on Friday night.
Police said the woman, 20, was taken by ambulance to St George Hospital for treatment of minor lacerations to her face, body, arms and legs.
The woman was walking in Gardiner Park about 11.30pm after leaving Banksia railway station, police said.
She was approached from behind by two unknown men.
One of the men grabbed her from behind while the other began to slash at her with an object, believed to be a knife.
The woman was then pushed to the ground and dragged towards trees before she was able to fight the men off and run away.
Police and ambulance paramedics were contacted, and the woman was taken to hospital.
Detectives from St George Local Area Command are investigating.
Police said, at this stage, no further description of the men was available.
