Saturday 28th of May marks the start of National Hockey Week, and to celebrate Sydney South Hockey Association ran its annual Bring A Friend day at Jenola playing fields.
The focus this year was on the very young players in the Under 7 and Under 9 competitions. Six players who started their hockey as young players at Jenola, and this year have been selected in NSW State teams, attended and helped run coaching sessions teaching skills and playing small fun games with the kids.
Not sure who enjoyed it most, the coaches or the young players, but they all got a sausage sandwich at the end. Several of the ‘friends’ who attended said they were keen to continue to play hockey, and the clubs involved look forward to seeing them join their friends in coming weeks.
