A sharp kicking display from Southern Districts’ centre Rohan Saifoloi helped the Rebels down Shute Shield leaders Randwick 23-20 on Saturday.
Souths stormed into second on the table after the three-point win at Coogee Oval, with Randwick fifth.
Saifoloi kicked six penalty goals for the Rebels to add to Souths’ only try to flanker Sean Doyle.
Randwick outscored Souths two tries to one thanks to efforts from Tristan Goodbody and Nicholas Kellaway but Saifoloi’s kicking proved to be the difference.
Souths host struggling West Harbour at Forshaw Rugby Park on Saturday looking to consolidate their place near the summit.
