Cronulla forward Matt Prior says it would be a massive achievement if the Sharks can set a new club record for most wins in a row on Saturday night.
Cronulla host Parramatta at Southern Cross Group Stadium looking to enter the history books and pass the Sharks teams of 1978 and 2002 who they share the benchmark of 11 straight wins with.
Prior said while the real achievement would be to win the club’s first premiership come October, a club record winning streak would still be a memorable feat.
“That’s a big achievement for us or for any group to win that amount of games [in a row],” he said.
“But I think at the end of the day that’s probably not the achievement we’re after.
“We’re after the end result in the finals and to finish the year strong. That’s probably our main focus. But to win [12] games in a row would be a massive achievement.”
Prior, 29, has been in outstanding form for Cronulla this season, forming a strong front row partnership with Origin prop Andrew Fifita.
