A man, 46, is under police guard at hospital after a police pursuit at Miranda today.
Just before 9.30am Miranda police were called to The Boulevard after concerns about the welfare of a teenage girl.
Police said as they approached a vehicle on foot, the driver drove from the scene, injuring an officer.
A pursuit was started but was terminated due to safety concerns.
The man was arrested a short time later at Gymea Railway Station.
A girl, 15, was found nearby.
The man was taken to Sutherland Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.
Police said once there the man tried to escape police custody; however, he was found nearby and taken back to the hospital.
He is expected to be taken to Miranda Police Station once he is released.
The girl was uninjured during the incident.
Investigations are continuing.

Roads have been blocked off as part of a police operation at Caringbah this afternoon.
Some local businesses have also been locked down following the incident.
There are reports police were looking for a man.
Polair and the dog unit were called.
A NSW Police spokeswoman said they would provide further information once it could be confirmed.
