The inaugural Shire Kids Festival will feature a range of kid-friendly events across Sutherland Shire in the school holidays from July 2 to 17.
Presented by Sutherland Shire Council, there will be school holiday activities across 10 council venues.
There is a huge range of opportunities including exhibitions, activities and events to enjoy.
“Keeping the kids occupied during the school holidays is no easy task, especially in the cooler winter months,’’ Sutherland Shire mayor Carmelo Pesce said.
“We’ve created the Shire Kids Festival to give parents and carers plenty of options with a range of paid and free activities.’’
Highlights of the Shire Kids Festival program include 14 days of exhibitions specially created for children at Hazelhurst Gallery.
There are free games of SnookerFeet at Cronulla Plaza from July 11 to 15, giant inflatable fun at Sutherland Leisure Centre on Monday, Wednesday and Fridays during the holidays, free with general entry; Bubble Soccer at Menai Indoor Sports Centre from July 4 to 15 for $15 per child and NAIDOC celebrations on Thursday, July 7 at Gunnamatta Park and Hall in Cronulla.
A Shire Kids Festival pop up venue will be at Westfield Miranda Centre Court from July 4 to 8. There will be a daily program of changing activities from Hazelhurst Art Gallery, creative play with Children’s Services, Surf Safety with Lifeguards, stories and fun with Shire Libraries, and FunFit Group Fitness for kids with Sutherland Shire Leisure Centres.
“We want families to see, create and explore the shire these school holidays,’’ Cr Pesce said.
‘’There will be more than 30 opportunities to enjoy a great range of activities across 10 council venues. So don’t stay inside. Get out and explore the shire and be in with a chance to win some wonderful prizes.
“Visit some or all of the participating venues during the Festival and pick up a Festival Passport, venue sticker and answer the secret question. Once you’ve collected at least four unique stickers and secret answers, you can enter the competition.’’
Venues participating in the Shire Kids Festival include Cronulla Beach, Cronulla Plaza, Sutherland Shire Vacation Care, Hazelhurst Art Gallery, Sutherland Entertainment Centre, Sutherland Shire Leisure Centres and Sutherland Shire Libraries.
