Rockdale Council is facing a $1.5 million bill after June’s devastating storms.
During the weekend of June 4 Sydney was battered with more than 226mm of rain.
That's easily more than a typical June for the city, which is just under 132 mm, and far more than for the previous two months.
In the St George area houses in Dolls Point and Sans Souci were flooded.
A number of main roads were closed including Bexley Road.
The coastline along Ramsgate and Dolls Point were particularly hit hard with severe damage to the beach and Cook Park with rubble and pipes exposed.
Ramsgate Baths were also impacted with the concrete access ramp cracked and uplifted and the southern section washed away.
At Dolls Point the seawall and its handrailings were also damaged while a observation deck was destroyed.
A Rockdale Council spokesman confirmed the $1.5 million bill.
He said minor works on the damaged swimming spots and coastal works were expected to begin on Monday.
