From Gymea Bay to the global pageant stage, Alexandra Britton, 23, is this year’s Miss International Australia.
Held at Lake Macquarie, the competition final crowned the Sutherland Shire young woman who is studying a Bachelor of Education at the University of Notre Dame, Sydney.
The pageant rewards young women for their efforts in support a charity organisation.
As an ambassador for Variety and working with children, Ms Britton recently started working with Barnardos Australia, sponsoring a young underprivileged schoolboy in Sydney.
She also recently took on the role of ambassador for Teal Wings of Hope, which promotes ovarian cancer awareness.
“I will contribute by educating our youth on the correct health choices in their lives and the different symptoms of ovarian cancer,” Ms Britton said.
“If more people are educated on ovarian cancer, symptoms will be more easily identified and can be picked up early on which can potentially save lives.”
Ms Britton’s next venture is to represent the nation in October in Japan.
“I’m very proud to be representing Australia as it gives me a platform to proactively contribute to my community and across the world through my charity work,” she said.
