Every morning Snezhana Dohrn wakes up certain that one day she’ll be reunited with her husband Stuart.
That certainty is what has got her through the past seven heartbreaking months since Stuart went missing from their Woronora house on December 14.
He had taken out $130 and packed camping supplies including a tent before he left.
He left his wallet and phone at home.
‘’The last few months have been an exceptionally painful and heartbreaking time. Days and months filled with many tears,’’ she said.
‘’It’s been a very challenging time in which I have been seeking God's strength to keep me going.’’
Despite the passing days she keeps hope of seeing her gentle giant again.
‘’I have very strong faith and hope, I believe Stuart is alive,’’ she said.
‘’I believe that as sure as the sun rises each morning. That's how sure it is that Stuart is returning home safely very soon.’’
There have been a few possible sightings but she hopes Missing Persons Week will bring the case back into people’s minds.
‘’Public exposure is very important,’’ she said.
‘’It gets the public involved and informed so that they can help in helping loved ones come home.’’
She urged people that might recognise Stuart to contact Sutherland police immediately or visit their Facebook page.
OTHER MISSING PERSONS CASES
- On 11 June, 2014, Nick Veljanovski, told his girlfriend he would see her soon. He then set out for the Royal National Park near Bundeena. At 4pm that day Nick asked a ranger for directions, and that was the last time anyone heard or spoke to Nick.
- Cronulla man Matthew Leveson, 20, was last seen leaving ARQ nightclub in the city in the early hours of September 23, 2007. An inquest into his disappearance is currently underway.
-Sutherland Shire teenagers Kerry Anne Joel (top) and Elaine Johnson have been missing for 35 years but their families still live with hope.
Police said Miss Joel, 18, and Miss Johnson, 17, disappeared on February 1, 1980.
They were last seen together at Cronulla.
Miss Joel was a checkout operator at Taren Point's Half Case supermarket.
She had attended Woolooware High School while Miss Johnson had been a student at Cronulla High School.
- Zoran Kostantinnovic, 39, went missing from his Cronulla home on September 24, 2000.
His red Ford Laser was found in Canley Vale several days later.
- Stephen Mitchell, 35, is also listed on the missing persons list. He was last seen at his sister's Beverly Hills home on March 20, 2007.
Despite extensive inquiries there has been no trace of him since that day.
He was officially pronounced dead by the NSW State Coroner's Court in 2012 but his family told the Leader at the time they still held hope they would find him one day.
HELP IS AT HAND
’’Stay Connected’’ is the theme of this year’s Missing Persons Week.
The weeks runs from July 31 to August 6.
It aims to emphasise the importance of staying connected with family and to increase the support networks for someone who is at risk of going missing.
Police are reminding people that if they suspect a friend or family member has gone missing, they don’t have to wait 24 hours to take action.
People should follow their instincts and report the matter to police immediately.
The Salvation Army is also calling on those who have lost contact with the people closest to them to connect with its Family Tracing Service.
The service aims to help with the emotional trauma that families and communities face when relatives go missing.
It has a 75 per cent success rate in locating missing relatives and on average reunite 40 families each week.
