The Engadine Street Festival will return on Sunday, August 14 with live music, community performances, international food outlets and more than 40 stalls.
Organisers were overwhelmed by the community's response to the inaugural Engadine Street Festival last year, which attracted more than 15,000 people.
Following the success of last year’s event, which was centred on the town square outside the community centre and along Old Princes Highway, the 2016 Engadine Street Festival is been extended into Station Street this year with the extra space allowing for carnival rides and a show bag section as well as roving performers.
Among the 40 stalls will be fashion, homewares and handmade gifts, the traditional Rotary BBQ as well as plenty of food from Spanish tapas to French crepes.
Engadine Musical Society is kicking off the entertainment program, followed by local Shire bands and dance groups and acrogym.
The new carnival rides are expected to be a big drawcard with a mini pirate ship, crazy cars, ferris wheel and slide
There will also be a free petting zoo which kids can pat, feed and play with the baby animals.
“The feedback on last year’s Festival was really positive so we are pleased to be able to bring it back bigger and better than ever this year,” Sutherland Shire mayor Carmelo Pesce said.
“We’re thrilled that the local Engadine community has thrown its support behind this event.
‘’We’ve got performances from local schools and plenty of other shire talent on show.
“I think what made the event such a success last year was the local flavour and positive atmosphere, and that will be back again this year.”
The Engadine Street Festival is presented by Sutherland Shire Council and Essential Community Solutions.
The Festival will be held in Engadine Town Square, along Old Princes Highway, between Waratah and Stations Streets, and on Station Street to Caldarra Avenue.
Road closures will be in place from 5am to 6pm on Sunday, August 14..
“The Engadine Street Festival is the perfect opportunity to get out, grab a coffee and a bite to eat while you enjoy a crisp winter day exploring everything Engadine has to offer,” Cr Pesce said.
