Re “We want a home semi-final” (Leader, July 27).
It’s a stupid rule that was introduced. It’s fine for teams like Souths, Roosters and Bulldogs and Eels as they are all based in areas close to one of the big stadiums.
Teams like the Sharks, Tigers, Panthers and to some extent Dragons are a long way from home territory and kills the home ground feel and advantage - especially if they are up against a team where Allianz or ANZ is their ground!
Scott Gillon
I understand where Ennis and Flanagan are coming from but would rather the team just focused on the up coming games.
We are still in July and they are talking about proposed finals games in September. The NRL were/are never going to change that rule with Shark Park and its small capacity.
Darren Cole
Cronulla is closer to Alliance Stadium than every other team in the finals. Can fit twice as many Sharkies fans and we have a good record there. Leave it there.
Michael Buzo
No Sydney team gets a final at their home ground. There is an agreement for games to be at Allianz and ANZ. Clubs won’t forgo the extra revenue from a crowd twice the size, and they would be stupid to.
Suburban grounds just don’t have the capacity.
Ian Zuman
Rule has been in place since 2010 finals series. St George copped it and won the comp. If they’re good enough they’ll be able to win away from Shark Park.
Gavin Jones
We will need to win the grand final at Homebush so we might as well get used to playing there, and supporters traveling there. Put our semi at Homebush. If we can’t play at Shark Park.
Luke Nugget Fittock
As much as I would love a home ground game, Shark Park couldn’t accommodate all the supporters as some tickets would have to be reserved for the opponent’s followers also.
Lorraine Bell
Put a petition together, I’m sure Sharks fans would sign it in a heartbeat. The team deserves finals footy to be played at Shark Park.
Steve Barker
What a joke. Or they could just follow the rules like every other Sydney team has?
Stel Matos
Follow the rules like every other club - imagine the uproar if the Warriors were in the same position and suggested this.
