Re ‘‘Patients appeal for GP’’ (Leader, July 27)I was there the day Dr Sjarif received the notice that his medical licence had been cancelled. As one of the doctor’s oldest patients I was in tears.
I saw a man I deeply admire, shattered.
Dr Sjarif has been my GP for 36 years caring for three generations of my family and many of my friends.
Many friends rang me when they found out what happened to ask my what to do next they were distraught and lost as to what to do!
Dr Sjarif has been there for myself and my family, caring and helping us through so many wonderful and sad times in our lives.
Firstly giving me the wonderful news I was pregnant with each of my children, and then holding my hand and having to tell me I have breast cancer, all the time caring and supporting myself and my family.
During my treatment I was at ease knowing Dr Sjarif was there for myself and my family, helping my husband and my three children cope with what had been thrown at us.
To claim Dr Sjarif in incompetent is insane. Who claimed this, did they speak to any of his patients, have they researched the wonderful work this doctor does? More than likely not.
This doctor puts himself out for his patients being available to us 24/7, never closing his door to anyone.
We all feel safe and cared for Dr Sjarif and his wife Denise who have worked as a wonderful team to care and support our community.
We have wonderful doctors in our shire and Dr Sjarif is one of them.
Please, I ask the community to support our plea to have Dr Sjarif reinstated so please sign the petition.

Atheists taken to task
There is a large sign outside Coles in the parking lot in Wandella Road which is instructing people who are no longer religious to place a cross in the box marked No Religion in the upcoming census.
But it should be known that the people behind this signage is The Atheist Society. Why this sign?
Are they questioning the present statistics, or is their motivation to minimise the amount of government funding given to religious charitable organisations, by attempting to show their attitude to religion or to substantiate its decline?
Whichever way, the Church is the greatest volunteer organisation on earth and as such keeps its overheads extremely low.
For example, the Salvation Army operates its charities on a 2 per cent overhead.
Kill government funding of the many religious sponsored charities and watch the increased spending of the public purse.
What will be the outcome of this? Congratulations Atheist Society!

Development concerns
Well done to the people speaking out against the overdevelopment of the shire (Your View, July 27).
As I drive around it is clear that we are going to have blocks of units everywhere.
Our councillors and local government members do not appear to care about the concerns of the people.
As has already been stated the traffic will block all roads.
Why should Mr and Mrs Phillips at Gymea have to put up with lack of privacy I assume that they worked hard for what they have as most of us have.
Bring on the elections and someone please let us know who is leading this charge of overdevelopment, so we make sure that they do not get our vote.
Our current mayor seems more concerned with having his photo in the paper than worrying about what the rate payers concerns are.
