A new secure taxi rank at Miranda, the fourth in Sutherland Shire, has been officially launched.
The rank, on Kingsway outside the Westfield complex is staffed by three security guards on Friday and Saturday nights between 11pm and 4am.
Road and Maritime Services funds the service, which has been operating since June.
It was launched by Miranda MP Eleni Petinos with Sutherland Shire mayor Carmelo Pesce and Miranda police local area commander, Superintendent Michael O’Toole.
Also present were Nathan Van Hoeck, from Miranda Hotel, Jonathan Lane and Scott Matteson, representing the MIranda Liquour Accord, and Brett Leonard, of Westfield.
Ms Petinos said community feedback since the commencement of the service had been positive.
The MP said the project had resulted from cooperation between the council, Transport for NSW, police, St George Cabs, NSW Taxi Council and the Miranda Liquor Accord.
