Residents can do themselves a favour by voting early for the Sutherland Shire Council election on September 10 if they have a valid reason.
Electoral Commission NSW is encouraging pre-poll and postal voting, particularly because arrangements for council elections are different to those at state and federal polls.
There is no absentee or internet voting at this election.
Five pre-poll centres, catering for voters from all of the shire’s five wards, open at 8am on Monday, August 29, at:
- Cronulla Central, 38-60 Croydon Street.
- Miranda Community Centre, corner of Karimbla Road and Kiora Road.
- Sutherland Entertainment Centre, Eton Street.
- Sutherland Returning Officer, Level 2, Kirkby House, 33 Belmont St.
- Sydney Town Hall.
On election day, residents must vote at a polling booth in the ward in which they live unless they go to one of three multi-ward centres: Sutherland Uniting Church in Flora Street, Port Hacking High or Sydney Town Hall.
