Georges River Council has announced the three independent members to the audit and risk management committee.
John Gordon has been appointed committee chair while Elizabeth Gavey and Stephen Horne will act as committee members.
Mr Gordon is a chartered accountant with 22 years experience as a partner with Pricewaterhouse Coopers, including a number of years of experience in local government audit.
He has also chaired similar committees at eight other councils and several government agencies.
Ms Gavey is a member of the City of Ryde’s audit and risk committee, including time as the independent chair.
Mr Horne was previously Managing Director of the NSW Internal Audit Bureau and Assistant Auditor General for NSW.
Mr Gordon and Ms Garvey will serve until October 2019.
Mr Horne will serve until October 2018.
Council received nine applications for the membership positions.
